New flights to this summer’s hottest destinations

This spring, SAS opens 180 direct routes from Scandinavia to our favorite destinations in Europe. So get the planning started – your Mediterranean summer holiday is just a ticket away.

Many of us are longing to explore the world again. And as summer approaches, the demand for leisure travel, particularly to warmer destinations, is increasing. SAS is therefore reopening routes to several of the most popular destinations around the Mediterranean, and also increasing the number of departures to other holiday destinations. Which will be your pick this summer?

Spain is a long-time favorite for us Scandinavians, and why wouldn’t it be with 8,000km of coastline and over 3,000 hours of sun per year? Add to that a wide range of outdoor experiences, like the daring Caminito del Rey footpath outside Malaga or the combined beach and vibrant city vibe in Barcelona with its many architectural sights and culinary treats and you are guaranteed an unforgettable trip.

A new addition to the SAS world is Larnaca, Cyprus. The island offers plentiful water and outdoor activities for an action-packed vacation, but it also offers a rich heritage with many archeological sites. Larnaca is a good base for exploring the island by foot, bike or car.

Another island with a lot to offer travelers of all kinds is Crete. Along the coastline you’ll find coves and caves with crystalline water, along with long, golden, sandy beaches. Be sure to explore the picturesque city of Chania and take a stroll in the Venetian harbor or through the maze-like alleys of the Old Town.

Faro in Portugal remains a hugely popular golf destination, but the area also boasts beaches and natural parks all along the Algarve coast – perfect for a daytrip. In the medieval town of Faro, you’ll find streets lined with boutiques, bars and cafés. And don’t forget to try out local delicacies such as pork from the black pig or a vast selection of fish and shellfish.

Other SAS destinations in the Mediterranean include Alanya in Turkey (Gazipasa), Palermo (Sicily), Olbia (Sardinia), Pula (Croatia) and Thessaloniki (Greece). SAS is also increasing the number of flights to Nice, Rome and Athens.
